Tennis: Wiatrowski Leads Cats In Ocean County Tournament

The Wildcats competed in the Ocean County Tournament last week, on multiple dates, due to
the weather. First singles player Andrew Schulz won his first round match, lost in the second round match but then rebounded back to win his consolation match; Second singles player Arpit Gainder advanced to the semi-final round match but then bowed out by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 2-6; Third singles player Luke Wiatrowski advanced all the way to the finals before eventually falling by scores of 6-3,6-4; First doubles duo of Sam Cardillo and Pete Simone won their first match, lost their second match and then lost their consolation match; Second doubles duo of Kieran Sundermann and John Hart won their first match, lost their second match and were eliminated in the consolation match.

Pinelands continued their regular season by beating their divisional opponent, Jackson Liberty, by a score of 5-0, on Wednesday, May 23. Schulz won 6-1, 6-1; Gainder won 6-3, 6-3; Wiatrowski won 5-7, 7-5, 10-1; Cardillo and Watson won 6-1, 7-5; and Sundermann and Hart won 5-7, 7-5, 6-4. Then the Cats finished out their season on Thursday, May 24, by beating their final divisional opponent, Barnegat, by a score of 5-0. The entire Wildcat team shut out their opponents and won their matches 6-0, 6-0. The Wildcats finished the season with a record of 12-8. Great job Cats!
